Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available to all students. Students who hold a student visa will not be granted RPL if it leads to a reduced study load of less than 20 hours per week.
RPL means that you may be able to receive recognition for any previous learning you may have acquired (if it is relevant to the course you are entering), regardless of where or how you acquired this learning. For example, you may have completed a formal course at another College or University, or you may have acquired specific skills through on-the-job training or even through some hobbies or community work in which you have been engaged.
SRSA will recognise the AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations. If you are granted RPL for part of your course, you pay an administration fee for those units you are not required to study, instead of the full tuition and resource fees.
For international students, if granting of RPL effects their course length and course hours, this may effect the granting of their visa or, if visa is granted, may impact on their student visa conditions. It is a condition of a student visa to be enrolled in full time study; that is, a minimum of 20 contact hours per week.
