Big Dreams, Small Business: Supporting local entrepreneurs

The Start & Grow Business Expo | Big Dreams, Small Business brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, small business owners and local support services at the Broadbeach Cultural Centre on 8 October 2026.

Hosted by Workforce Australia Local Jobs in partnership with Sarina Russo Entrepreneurs, Asuria and ETC, the free expo provided a welcoming space for people to connect, share ideas and discover the support available to help them start or grow their own business.

Amanda Bate and Anne Stott from Sarina Russo Entrepreneurs joined the event, connecting with attendees and sharing information about the Self-Employment Assistance program and the support available for people exploring self-employment.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees had the opportunity to browse local market stalls, meet business and support services, network with other entrepreneurs and take part in a range of free workshops.

Workshop topics included growing a brand through social media, avoiding small business burnout, taking control of business finances, smarter marketing, harnessing the power of AI and building a winning entrepreneurial mindset.

The expo was a great opportunity to bring the local business community together, showcase small businesses and help people explore new possibilities for their business journey.

Events like this highlight the value of local connections, practical support and bringing people together to turn ideas into opportunities.

Small business. Big ideas. Local connections.
