“Being creative can be fulfilling,” Lois shares, “with the joy of a successful achievement; a finished product that brings pleasure and can benefit others.” But creativity also comes with its challenges — moments of doubt, fear of criticism, and the need to stay resilient. Through perseverance and a willingness to learn, Lois discovered that success often arrives after many determined attempts.
Her venture into small business has been a kaleidoscope of experiences — from developing engaging content to collaborating with local schools and participating in The Reading Challenge. Her book’s easy-to-read style aligns with the Phonics Plus Program used in primary schools, and the project now includes a YouTube animation, educational merchandise, and growing community engagement.
A key part of Lois’s journey has been the support she received through the Self-Employment Assistance program. Business Coach Stephanie Reindel played a pivotal role, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical advice every step of the way. “Receiving support, advice and unwavering encouragement from my Business Trainer continues to be greatly appreciated,” Lois says.

The Self-Employment Assistance is 100% Australian Government funded.
Sarina Russo Entrepreneurs supports candidates as they complete Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business. During this, candidates create a comprehensive business plan and a two-year financial cash forecast. SRE Trainers provide meaningful mentoring for the first twelve months.
Eligible candidates receive the training and support to create a viable business plan, in addition to obtaining a Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business.
