James Cook University Brisbane recently welcomed Siri Chilazi, Harvard researcher and leading gender equality expert, for an engaging event centred on her groundbreaking new book, Make Work Fair: Data-Driven Design for Real Results, co-authored with behavioural scientist Iris Bohnet.
The event brought together students, staff, influential industry and community stakeholders and guests for an evening of learning and discussion about building fairness into the very fabric of workplaces. Siri shared insights from the book, which offers a practical, evidence-based blueprint for creating more equitable organisations. Rather than relying solely on traditional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs, the book advocates embedding fairness into everyday processes and decisions, a message that resonated strongly with attendees preparing for careers in diverse industries.
The event featured an interactive Q&A session where JCU Brisbane students explored real-world fairness frameworks, a book signing opportunity with Siri and a networking opportunity with employers and industry representatives.
This event reflects JCU Brisbane’s commitment to providing enriching experiences beyond the classroom, empowering our community to lead with knowledge, fairness, and purpose.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a success!
