Empowering individuals with different abilities in drone technology and agriculture

Nathan Newport, the manager of Wide Bay Drones, is proud to share how the company not only offers top-tier services but also runs a high-quality training program. For those interested in drone technology or agriculture—fields that have become increasingly popular with younger generations—Wide Bay Drones provides opportunities for individuals who may be struggling in other areas to thrive.

As a Disability Employment Services (DES) employer, Nathan worked closely with Sarina Russo Job Access (SRJA) to find the right employees for his business. One such success story involved a client who was suffering from anxiety. Together with SRJA’s dedicated consultants, they explored whether self-regulated work with limited social contact could help ease the client’s anxiety. The result was remarkable. Nathan provided this individual, who had no prior qualifications, with a Certificate III in Agriculture and Employability Skills Training (EST). The participant is now in the process of obtaining a pilot’s license through Wide Bay Drones’ flight training program.

Nathan is proud to report that following such a perfect personality match in what is typically considered a niche sector, the participant has gained full confidence in safety procedures and legal obligations, working independently in the fields. Wide Bay Drones remains committed to maintaining this positive culture and helping individuals succeed in a field that not only enhances their skills but also supports their overall well-being.
