Troy has experienced a host of personal and medical barriers which has had a major impact on his ability to get a job.
To help Troy take his first step towards employment, Sarina Russo’s Employment Consultants Tamara Gala and Alexandra Shaw, and Centrelink, met with him to develop a pathway back to work that took into account his major personal and medical challenges.
Tamara suggested Troy should engage in a Work for the Dole activity and called in the expertise of Hervey Bay Work for the Dole Manager Paul Cieply and National Work for the Dole Manager Cathleen Macpherson.
Troy found their assistance invaluable and after extensive discussion, it was agreed to put Troy forward for a placement with LifeLine where Troy would apply his trade as a Retail Assistant – serving customers, handling cash, cleaning, sorting, labelling, and other general duties.
“After all the personal and medical barriers I was going through, it’s great to have people that understand and help me. The last time I worked was over 20 years ago due to jail and other barriers. Now I am raising my 2 sons and I am able to go to volunteer to get some skills.” Troy Grogan said.
Paul personally took Troy down to meet Gabrielle Kid, the manager of Lifeline Pialba Retail and then take him through an induction.
“Lifeline takes so much pride in giving people like Troy a chance to gain valuable work experience to help them on the pathway to financial independence,” Gabrielle said.
